Supportive treatments are often used to help treat cancer.

What are supportive treatments?

Supportive treatments can be given alongside your main cancer treatment to help it work better and to relieve, or prevent, side effects.

There are many different types of supportive treatments. A few examples are:

• Steroids
• Anti sickness drugs
• Bisphosphonates to strengthen bones
• Blood transfusions
